Overview of the Agriculture program

Montgomery County’s farmers work hard to supply our nation’s food. Our county’s agriculture industry fills our basic needs, which is even more important during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Montgomery County has allocated $5 million from federal CARES Act funds to help the agriculture industry. Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to eligible agriculture businesses. These grants can cover expenses incurred because of the public health emergency with COVID-19 (including expenses already incurred as well as anticipated expenses between March 1 and Dec. 30, 2020).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for CARES Act funds, you must be able to prove that the pandemic has had a negative impact on your business. Your agriculture business also must:

  • Be physically located in Montgomery County, Ohio
  • Benefit individuals living in Montgomery County, Ohio
  • Be able to provide financial records to support the grant request (including reconciling and reporting the use of federal funds and tracking and reporting number of clients served and demographic information)
  • Submit documentation below to the Office of CARES Act, including your last two years’ of Schedule F forms (Profit or Loss from Farming)

YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO APPLY

Required documents depend on how your agriculture business is organized. After you apply, you will need to submit the following documents to the Office of CARES Act to be considered for funding.

Sole Proprietorship

  • Copy of last 2 years tax returns, including Form 1040 with Schedule F Profit or Loss from Business
  • Copy of most recent Form W-3 Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements
  • Copy of most recent Form 1096 Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information
  • Copy of completed and signed W-9
  • Number of independent contractors (Form 1099-Misc.)
  • Include a budget narrative that details how grant funds will be used, if awarded

Partnership

  • Copy of last 2 years tax returns, including:
    • Form 1040 with Schedule F
    • Form 1065 U.S. Returns of Partnership Income
  • Copy of Partnership Agreement
  • Listing of all partners and percentage of partners’ ownership
  • Copy of completed and signed W-9
  • Copy of Form W-3 Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements
  • Copy of Form 1096 Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns
  • Number of independent contractors (Form 1099-Misc.)
  • Include a budget narrative that details how grant funds will be used if awarded

Corporation

  • Copy of last 2 years corporation tax returns, including:
    • Form 1040 with Schedule F
    • Form 1120S
  • Copy of completed and signed W-9
  • Copy of Form W-3 Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements
  • Copy of Form 1096 Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns
  • Number of independent contractors (Form 1099-Misc.)
  • Include a budget narrative that details how grant funds will be used if awarded
